Directionless
This is my first game jam submission ever so here goes nothing :)
Made in around 9 hours for the Monthly ZenoJam (last minute submission).
The first level "Learnings" is purposefully built as a puzzle to solve & the only inputs necessary are directional keys.
Controls:
Up, Down, Left & Right directional inputs.
Directional keys on gamepad and keyboard as well as WASD should be working.
Best Times:
I tied some of the mechanics to the in-game timer for some challenging replayability. Please let me know your scores :)
Here are my Personal Best:
Learnings: 00:41.04
Trial of the Adventurous: 01:17.02

What do the yellow arrows do? They seem the same as the white ones.
Thank you for trying my little concept jam game :)
Yellow are actually mashable arrows. Every time you press them you take 1 second off the timer, and you can press them as much as you want!
The narrator was hinting at it : "Through dedication and intense repetition you will find the secret..."
There’s the risk of clicking that button too much and failing a check though, felt like a cool little risk/reward mechanic to add the game.
I like how at first I thought I could just spam the arrows to cheese it but that turned out to be a fake solution, I really like the message!
Thank you, yeah all it does is set you back a ton (time-wise). You rarely can brute force solutions in life.
And also even if you went through a level and mapped all arrows out, you can’t really input them all at once in the beginning…
The skip “gray” arrows have a random direction + you can only ever act against your closest visible obstacle, the one in the present.
So even if you’re sure of the direction to take, life always seems to find a way to present you with the unexpected…
And you can only ever deal with those if you’re fully committed to the present :)
My god! That's awesome work in 9hrs. Learnings took me 4:23. Not proud to say it. Yellow are really tough. Also, so many variation of the same idea with such limited time. Great imagination!
Thank you so much :) Yellow are actually mashable arrows. Everytime you press them you take 1 second off the timer :)
The hint was there: "Through dedication and intense repetition you will find the secret..."
Happy you had some good fun :) It was tough in 9hrs to have it done and I have a few ideas on how to add even more stuff so good things to come hopefully.
